WZPDCLs 2nd place in innovation showcasing

West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd: (WZPDCL) won the honor of 2nd place by participating in the “Innovation Showcase 2021” competition organized by the Department of Power, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources. The subject of Innovation Showcase was Low Cost Substation Automation System with SCADA. At the end of the competition, on 29/08/2021 every Sunday morning at 10:00 am, Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman, Secretary of Power Division, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources distributed the prize in Dhaka.Mr. Ratan Kumar Debnath FCMA and Executive Engineer Mr. Debashish Pal accepted the award on behalf of WZPDCL.Mr. Salim Uddin, Additional Secretary (Administration), Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Salim Abed, Chairman, WZPDCL and Additional Secretary (Coordination), Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Mohammad Hossain were also present at the awarding ceremony. , Director General, Power Cell, Electricity Department and Mr. Md. Ahsanur Rahman Hasib, Deputy Secretary (Administration-1), Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.

The data (voltage, current, load and other parameters) of all existing 33/11 KV substations of WZPDCL and the records of opening/closing of feeders are recorded in manual log books by the working SBAs. Also, indoor feeders are switched on/off from the front of Live Panel which is risky for working SBA. In the absence of a computerized data base, the data stored in the manual log book is not helpful for future planning and analytical work.As the strategic technology of the existing automation system is dependent on foreign imports, it is very expensive and at the same time depends on foreign engineers for maintenance/upgradation work. To solve these problems, Joragate, Khulna 33/11 KV substation was initially constructed to implement the innovation idea titled Low Cost Substation Automation System (SUS) with SCADA.
